Email providers like BT, Plusnet, TalkTalk and Virgin Media use
traditional password authentication.
You’ll need to update your password in two places — one for sending and
one for receiving, even though it’s almost always the same for both.
Note: If these instructions don’t match your screen, you
probably have an older version of iOS or iPadOS. See the separate
section below.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Apps, then Mail.
- Tap Mail Accounts.
- Tap the appropriate account.
- Tap Account Settings.
- Under Outgoing Mail Server tap SMTP.
- Under Primary Server tap the name of the server.
- Type the new password in the space provided.
- In the top-right corner, tap Done.
- In the top-left corner, tap Back to return.
- Under Incoming Mail Server, type the new password in the
space provided.
- In the top-right corner, tap Done.
